Collection: Medicine Buddha Thangka & Statue

The Medicine Buddha, Bhaisajyaguru, is depicted in deep lapis blue with his right hand open over the knee holding the myrobalan plant and his left hand in his lap holding a bowl of medicine — a gesture of giving rather than curing.

His practice is recited for the sick, for those who have died, and for anybody building a shrine or starting a healing ritual. Blue is not symbolic here: lapis was the pigment the painters kept for him alone.

Formats in this collection: Hand-painted thangka, prints, painted and cast statues, and tsa-tsa molds.
