Collezione: Machig Labdron Thangka & Statue
Machig Labdron is the eleventh-century Tibetan yogini who founded Chod, the practice of cutting through the root of fear by offering the body. She is painted fierce and direct, holding a damaru drum in the right hand and a bell in the left, sometimes dancing on one leg.
Her practice travels well outside the monastery — it is done at night, in charnel grounds and in wild places — and her image is kept by practitioners working with fear, illness and grief.
Formats in this collection: Hand-painted thangka, prints, cast statues and tsa-tsa molds; the smaller images are often carried in a gau box.
