คอลเลกชัน: Maitreya Thangka & Statue — Future Buddha

Maitreya is the Buddha of the future, waiting in the Tushita heaven to take his final birth and teach again. He is distinguished from a seated meditation Buddha by his posture: legs down from the throne, as if about to stand up, with a stupa or a vase beside him.

He is kept for aspiration and patience — the practice is not to hurry him but to prepare — and in Tibetan monasteries he is the subject of the largest statues, made expressly for the future.

Formats in this collection: Hand-painted thangka, printed thangka, cast statues and tsa-tsa molds.
