Palden Lhamo Thangka & Statue

Palden Lhamo, Shri Devi, is the only female guardian among the main protectors of Tibet and the personal protectress of Lhasa and the Dalai Lamas. She rides a mule across a sea of blood under a canopy of peacock feathers, sun and moon discs in her hair, a skull cup in her hand.

Her image sits on the protector corner of a shrine rather than in the centre, and practitioners make offerings to her for protection of the teaching and of travel.
